Attorney Judges Needed for Mock Trial Competitions

The NYSBA statewide high school Mock Trial season begins with Round 1 on Thursday, February 16th at 3:30 p.m. at Westhill High School.  Ten attorney Judges will be needed to preside over the 20 teams competing that afternoon.  An additional 10 attorney Judges will be needed to preside for Round 2 on Thursday March 2nd  at Westhill.

This year a criminal case is being argued.  If you are interested in Judging contact either Brandon King at Sugarman Law (362-8925)or Deborah O’Shea at the OCBA (471-2667).  You will receive a copy of the case as well as the rules of the competition prior to the trials.

Administrative Order from the Chief Administrative Judge of the Courts

Pursuant to the authority vested in me, and upon the advice and consent of the Administrative Board of the Courts, I hereby amend, effective January 17, 2006, section 202.8 of the Uniform Civil Rules for the Supreme and County Courts, to add a new
subdivision (h), relating to motions not
decided within 60 days, to read as follows:

(h) 60-Day Rule.  If 60 days have elapsed after a motion has been finally submitted or oral argument held, whichever was later, and no decision has been issued by the court, counsel for the movant shall send the court a letter alerting it to this fact with copies to all parties to the motion. then give attendees insight into their reaction to the process.
