Our Westcott Community Center project
was a pilot project - and it is time to measure progress
and plan expansion. Steve Susman and Paul Demong, at the
Community Center, have been very pleased with the
addition of "Talk to A Lawyer" to their
programming. We thought this would be a good time to get
our participating volunteers together, to share lessons
learned and identify possible improvements. The
Community Center suggested we gather there, and Steve
and Paul will be providing refreshments in appreciation
for your work to date. In addition, Maureen Kieffer,
Esq., of LSCNY, will provide information and answer
questions about the operations of Onondaga County DSS,
as they affect the people we see at the Community
Center.
Simultaneously, we have received
notification from the New York Bar Foundation that
it will fund our proposal for expansion of the
"Talk To A Lawyer" model to other sites. We
want to collect as much information from as many
volunteers as possible before launching the program at
more locations. So, please make every effort to join us
on July 24, and, if you can’t, write or e-mail your
ideas about this delivery model to Barb Romeo.
Please RSVP to this invitation by July
22, contacting Barb Romeo at 471-3409, or bromeo@onbar.org.
