Salary
Compensation
The
Executive
Director has the
following
responsibilities,
and any others
assigned by the
Board, all to be
carried out in
conformity with
the
Association’s
By-laws:
·
Recruiting,
training, and
supervising paid
and volunteer
staff to insure
that the program
goals of the
Association are
met;
·
Operating the
Association’s
office within
budget, and
advising the
Board of
Directors about
space and
equipment needs;
·
Supervising
fiscal matters,
including: (a)
maintenance of a
fiscal
recordkeeping
system compliant
with generally
accepted
accounting
principles, (b)
preparation, in
consultation
with the
Treasurer and
relevant
committees, of
an annual
budget, and (c)
keeping the
Board and
officers
informed of the
financial
condition of the
Association;
·
Managing
Association
programs and
events so that
Association
goals, as set by
the Board of
Directors, are
met;
·
Directly
supporting the
work of the
Board and its
Executive and
Finance
Committees by
working with the
President and
Committee Chairs
to prepare
agenda, insuring
the availability
of appropriate
documents,
attending
meetings, and
reporting fully
the status of
Association
programs and
operations; and
coordinating
support for the
Association’s
other Committees
and Sections;
·
Maintaining and
improving the
Association’s
special
relationships
with the
Onondaga County
Bar Foundation
and the Onondaga
County Bar
Association
Assigned Counsel
Program, in
conjunction with
the Board’s
liasons to these
programs;
·
Maintaining
supportive
working
relationships
with: (a) local,
state, national,
and specialty
bar
associations;
(b) the
judiciary; and
(c) appropriate
community
organizations,
public agencies,
and funding
providers.
·
Coordinating all
media
communications,
with the
President, who
has exclusive
authority to
make public
statements on
behalf of the
Association;
·
Developing and
maintaining
effective
channels of
communication
between the
Association and
its members and
the community;
and
·
Insuring that
the Association
is accessible
to, and
supportive of,
its members.
Qualifications
for Employment
Education:
Bachelor’s
Degree
Experience:
Five (5) or more
years of office
or program
management
responsibility
Skills:
Proficiency in
English
language,
written and
spoken
(proficiency in
Spanish a plus);
ability to use
basic functions
of word
processing,
spreadsheet,
database, web
browser, and
e-mail software;
attentive to
detail; able to
switch tasks,
and handle
multiple tasks,
calmly; able to
interact with
demanding people
calmly.
Working
Conditions
Most work is
done in a
typical office
setting.
Support of
off-site
Association
functions
requires walking
or driving.
Attendance at
professional
conferences
requires
extended travel
by automobile or
common carrier,
and overnight
stays up to
several days.
The Executive
Director must
regularly engage
in Association
business before
and after
traditional
“office hours,”
as well as on
some weekends.
