The OCBA presents this website as a service to OCBA members and the public.  Although the information presented is about legal issues, it does not constitute legal advice.  Reliance upon this information must be made with the understanding that much of the information is provided by or from outside sources and the accuracy and reliability of the content cannot be and is not warranted or guaranteed.

Information Collected

Identity

Information about members of the OCBA, including name address, telephone, e-mail, and other personal information is collected primarily to transact business related to OCBA membership.  By providing this information, members are afforded a convenience and the information allows for the provision of services in a more efficient manner than in the past.  The OCBA will make available membership information only to members through a private and secure area of the website accessible only by members.

Submission by members of materials to be made public on the website is presumed to indicate that member’s consent to be identified by name, business address, telephone and e-mail address, unless that member notifies the OCBA to the contrary in a timely manner.  Participation in forums and discussion groups necessarily involves disclosure of identity and content by the participant. OCBA will take no responsibility for any disclosures by participants in forums, discussion groups or similar activities.

Information submitted by the public, except to the extent public participation is allowed in forums, discussion groups or similar activities, shall be used by the OCBA only to transact association business, including referrals to members or other groups.

Identification information will be used only by the OCBA, its entities  and its affiliates.  The OCBA will not sell or rent e-mail addresses or other personal information to anyone outside the OCBA.

The OCBA is not responsible for misuse of information by individual members. 

E-commerce

The site uses registration forms and order forms to allow users to request items, information and services.  Information collected from these forms will be used by OCBA to process the requests and to convey information concerning the requested item, information or service.  User payment information, including credit card, information will be used for no other purpose and such information will not be provided to anyone not connected with the OCBA.

Surveys

Surveys may be utilized in one or more areas of the website.  Participation in surveys is always voluntary.  The results of surveys will generally be made available to some degree.  Personal information included in survey submissions will only be used within the OCBA and will not be made public.

Email

E-mail

E-mail addresses of persons submitting e-mail may be made public as described above regarding materials submitted with the intent that they be made public.  In addition, e-mail addresses of members will be made public for the purpose of facilitating communication to officers, directors, committee chairs and similar “contact” persons.  E-mail addresses will also be made available to members through “members only” areas of the site.

E-mail lists

E-mail lists (listserves, etc.) will be used only by the OCBA in connection with OCBA activities.  E-mail lists will not be sold or rented to anyone.

Cookies are small files stored on your computer.  Cookies are generally helpful and are required to access some websites.  You can set browser preferences to avoid the creation of cookies.

The OCBA website may use cookies.  Sites with links on the OCBA website may utilize cookies.  OCBA cannot control the use of cookies by external websites linked to the OCBA website.

IP Addresses

IP addresses are unique numbers that identify your computer permanently or during the current session on the internet.  They are automatically collected by the website server when you visit any website. They do not allow anyone to link back to your computer, nor can they be used to discern information about you as an individual.

External links are included throughout the OCBA website.  OCBA makes no representation or warranties regarding the accuracy or reliability of the information contained on the sites connected to these links.  Moreover, OCBA is not responsible for the privacy practices of such sites.

Public Forums/Discussion Groups

Listserves, message boards, online meetings, real time message exchanges and similar devices are made available to members and, in some cases, to the public on the OCBA website.  Information submitted through any of these devices becomes public to the users of the device.  Although most such devices encountered on this website are “members only,” users are cautioned to use discretion when disclosing personal information.  Even in areas designated as “members only,” OCBA cannot guarantee that the information transmitted by users will remain secure.  Use of such devices is at the risk of the user.

Advertising

Advertising may be included on the OCBA website.  OCBA makes no representations or warranties regarding the content or accuracy of the information included in such advertising.  In addition, connection to sites identified in advertising may result in the collection of personal  information and cookies may be set by the site.
