CLE | Child Support: Where to Turn For Help? The Courts? Child Support Enforcement? The Department of Social Services?

WHEN:  Noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2021 via ZOOM | MCLE: 2.0 Skills | COST: FREE to any lawyer who plans to VOLUNTEER with the VLP Family Law Program at least twice in the upcoming calendar year otherwise $25 for those not able to commit to volunteering at this time.

The Volunteer Lawyers Project receives calls daily from clients trying to navigate child support. Many have lost their Driver’s License, are thousands of dollars in arrears, are paying support they cannot afford due to incarceration, paying for a child that is not their biological kin or for a child that has turned 21 years of age. These clients don’t know where to turn and often receive conflicting information from the various agencies that deal with child support issues. This CLE is designed to help practitioners accurately advise their clients regarding child support issues and learn the various roles of the Courts, Child Support Enforcement, and the Department of Social Services.
