Laurie earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University’s NY State School of Industrial and Labor Relations. She then graduated, with Honors, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law, where she was an active member of the Moot Court and President of the Trial Law Academy. Laurie spent several years as a disability advocate with Attorney Michael P. Daly in Manlius, NY, focusing primarily on Workers Compensation and Social Security matters. She started with VLP in 2016 as a volunteer interim director of the Reentry Program, and joined the staff in January 2017 as part time Pro Bono Coordinator for the Homeless Advocacy and Prevention Program.
