WHEN: NOON on Friday, February 3, 2023 | HOW: via ZOOM | COST: Free | This CLE is appropriate for both transitional and non-transitional attorneys at the Sugarman Law Firm.
The Volunteer Lawyers Project of CNY, Inc. coordinates pro bono attorneys to help low-income tenants who are facing the loss of their home.
Lawyers from firms like yours who donate the time and skills to help their neighbor are the lifeblood of the VLPCNY Eviction Defense Program.
This CLE will help attorneys feel more comfortable supporting tenants in summary eviction proceedings at Syracuse City Court. This interactive and lively session will examine such topics as:
- Tenant Rights and Responsibilities
- How the Eviction Process Works
- Ethics of Limited Representation, Including How Your Help Makes a Difference
- Presenting Effective Defenses
- Negotiating Skills and Tactics
We’ll also take a look at expected developments in landlord/tenant law. Much has changed in the past few years, from the Housing Security and Protection Act of 2019 to various COVID-related protections, some of which are still in play.
Please register below and see you Friday, February 3rd! Your ZOOM invitation will be sent to you the day before this CLE.
