Klein, Esq., members of the Onondaga County Clerk’s Office, and longtime local civil litigator Donald C. Doerr, Esq. Find out from these established professionals the tips, cues, and insight you’ll need to be most effective when you bring your clients’ matters to the Onondaga County Supreme Court.

Presenters:

Donald C. Doerr, Esq. of the Cerio Law Offices. Don has been a prominent attorney in Central New York for close to 30 years. He concentrates in civil litigation and municipal and land use law but has a broad general practice in many areas of the law from small business and corporate law to wills and estate planning and probate and administration of estates. He currently serves as the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) attorney and Town Prosecutor for several Towns in Onondaga County. He was previously of Counsel at POMCO, (now United Healthcare), one of the nation’s largest third-party administrators of Health and Welfare Benefit Plans. He also served on the Board and was the Compliance Officer at Health Insurance Company of America (HICA), a Syracuse domiciled Insurance Company. He received his undergraduate (1985) and Juris doctorate (1988) degrees with honors from Syracuse University and served as a Confidential Law Clerk to the Justices of the New York State Supreme Court Appellate Division in Rochester from 1988 to 1990. After serving as an Associate in the Litigation Department of a New York City law firm he moved back to Syracuse and was a founding Partner at the Syracuse Law Firm of McDermott, Doerr & Britt, P.C. from 1991 through 2004. From 2004 to 2006 he served as an Assistant Vice President at Syracuse University where he oversaw the Office of Alumni Relations and its over 230,000 alumni. He is the Past-President of the OCBA, and is a past member of the House of Delegates and the Executive Committee of the 80,000-member New York State Bar Assocation, where he is currently the longstanding Chair of the Committee on Committees. He was recently elected as a Director of the New York Bar Foundation where he is a “Life Fellow” and serves as the Chair of the Fellows of the 5th Judicial District.

Michael A. Klein, Esq., Onondaga County Supreme Court, 5th Judicial District Executive. Mr. Klein has served as the Principal Law Clerk to the Hon. James C. Tormey, District Administrative Judge, Fifth Judicial District, and to the Hon. John F. Lawton, Associate Justice, Appellate Division Fourth Department. Mr. Klein was a member of the Commission to Promote Public Confidence in Judicial Elections. He was a member of former Chair of the New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Judicial Campaign Conduct. Mr. Klein also served as a past president of the Onondaga County Bar Association (2001) and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Onondaga County Bar Foundation. He was also a member of the House of Delegates of the New York State Bar Association (2000-02). Mr. Klein received a B.A. from the University of Rochester and a J.D. from Duke Law School.
